Jeans Measurement Guide
How to Read Our Layflat Measurements
Every listing includes flat-lay measurements taken directly from the garment. All measurements are taken flat — double where noted for full circumference. To find your best fit, compare the measurements of a pair of jeans you love with the measurements in our listings. Lay your jeans flat on a surface and use the diagram below as a reference. Or, compare the listing measurements to your own measurements (see below).

| Label | Measurement | Label | Measurement |
|---|---|---|---|
| A | Waist — measured flat across the waistband, doubled for circumference. | B | Hips — straight across the widest point, approx. 7–8" below the waistband. |
| C | Thigh — horizontally across the leg, just below the crotch seam. | D | Leg Opening — flat across the bottom hem from edge to edge. |
| E | Inseam — inner leg seam from crotch intersection to bottom hem. | F | Rise — crotch seam straight up to the top of the waistband. |
| G | Total Length — outer edge from top of waistband to bottom hem. |
Never Trust the Tag.
Vintage jeans are notorious for inaccurate sizing. The number on the tag rarely matches reality — always shop by the real measurements. Every listing at Trust Luck Vintage includes garment measurements taken directly from the piece.
How to Measure for the Perfect Fit
Finding the right fit in vintage denim starts with knowing your measurements. Use a soft measuring tape and follow the steps below. For the most accurate results, measure a pair of jeans you already love and compare to our listed dimensions.
| Measurement | How to Measure |
|---|---|
| Waist | Around your natural waist — the narrowest part of your torso, just above the belly button. |
| Hips | Around the fullest part of your hips and seat, 7–9 inches below your natural waist. |
| Inseam | From the crotch seam to the bottom of the leg. |
| Rise | From the top of the waistband to the crotch seam. Vintage denim often runs higher than modern cuts. |
| Thigh | Around the fullest part of your thigh, about 1 inch below the crotch seam. |
| Leg Opening | Straight across the hem — double it for full circumference. |
